Shantanu Sharma's Bio
Shantanu Sharma earned his Ph.D. in Biophysical and Physical Inorganic Chemistry from Caltech at the age of 23. His doctoral work was performed under the guidance of Profs. Bill Goddard and Harry Gray, and supported by the Ben Rosen Graduate Fellowship. While at Caltech he also had the opportunity to TA Harry Gray's infamous Advanced Ligand Field Theory class. Following his doctoral degree he took a position as a Management Consultant with OC&C Strategy Consultants, then co-founded Singapore-based Molecular Design Ventures. He returned to academia in Fall 2006 as an Assistant Professor at Cal Poly Pomona, and was named a Provost's Teacher-Scholar shortly thereafter. In 2008, he received a Cottrell College Science Award from the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. His research has been funded by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, and site facility support provided by the W. M. Keck Foundation and NSF. His teaching interests are in general, physical, and biophysical chemistry and he also lectures in Professor Abraham's High Growth Ventures course in the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona.
